TRUSTe ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH
MAILSHELL.COM (April 3, 2001) -- TRUSTe, a leading
privacy seal program, announced today that it will partner with
Mailshell.com, a free service that prevents consumers from receiving junk
e-mail. TRUSTe monitors the market for adherence to privacy policies by
"seeding" the commercial e-mail marketing lists of its licensees; the
company also acts as a watchdog over list rental practices and compliance
with unsubscription requests. Mailshell's technology will allow TRUSTe to
monitor lists anonymously, enabling the company to determine if any
licensees resell or market their e-mail lists without user permission or
in violation of stated privacy policies. -- Bonnie Tsui
