Overview
You can have Outlook 2002 or 2003 filter your
Hotmail account with Mailshell Anti-Spam. There are a few
easy steps to get Outlook to filter your Hotmail account
for spam:
- For each Outlook email account you want filtered by
Mailshell Anti-Spam, you need to create a new e-mail account
in Outlook and configure it so you can send and receive
mail from Hotmail's e-mail servers.
- After your account is configured, set up Mailshell Anti-Spam
to automatically scan your Hotmail folder.
Configuring Outlook
Step 1
Choose Tools > Email Accounts
from the main menu.
Step 2
In the E-mail Accounts window, click Add
a new e-mail account and then click Next.
Step 3
In the Server Type window, click HTTP
and then click Next.
You should see something like:

In the Internet "E-mail Settings (HTTP)"
window, enter the following information:
- Your Name: Enter the name
you wish to appear on outgoing e-mail (in the example,
it is given as "Jane").
- E-mail Address. Enter your
full Hotmail e-mail address, (e.g., jane@hotmail.com).
- User Name: Enter your user
name, (e.g., Jane@hotmail.com).
- Password: Enter the password
for your Hotmail account.
- Server Information: Select
"Hotmail" in the drop-down menu.
You should see something like:
Click Next and then click Finish.

Configuring Mailshell Anti-Spam to Automatically
Scan Your Hotmail Folder
You may add a folder to scan by clicking on
the Mailshell Anti-Spam icon
on the Mailshell Anti-Spam Outlook toolbar. On the Mailshell
Anti-Spam popup, under the General Options section, click
on "Enable Scan of Folders".
You should see something like:
Next, click the Add button. On the
popup menu, select the Inbox folder of your Hotmail account
to scan.
You should see something like:
Next, click the OK button
You should see something like:
Click OK. Outlook is now configured
to automatically scan your Hotmail folder for spam.
Congratulations! Outlook is now configured
to filter your Hotmail account.
