The first time you run SpamCatcher, SpamCatcher analyzes your Inbox and Sent
folders to optimize results for you. This one time process should not affect performance after your first time using SpamCatcher.
If you are noticing significant delays in Outlook, you should turn
off SpamCatcher Network checks. The Internet connection may be slow.
If you are behind a firewall and can not access port 443 on db11.spamcatcher.net, then you need to choose one of the following options
to eliminate the delays:
- We currently support HTTP or HTTPS proxies. This is the easiest solution if
you already have a HTTP or a HTTPS proxy.
- We support the HTTP protocol via port 80. If the client can connect to port
80 of the Mailshell servers, this is an easy solution.
- The client does not need outbound Internet access if the Gateway product
is installed. The Gateway product needs access to the Mailshell servers though.
- A NTLM Authorization Proxy Server can be installed:
- http://download.com.com/3000-2155-10122346.html?tag=lst-0-10
- A port forwarder can be installed to forward to port 443 on our servers. For
example:
- A standard HTTP proxy can be installed. Here are several free ones:
- http://httpd.apache.org/docs/misc/FAQ.html#proxy
If you are still noticing delays in Outlook, you can, if you have a POP account, install the
SpamCatcher Universal edition in addition to your SpamCatcher for Outlook
edition. Performance should significantly increase if SpamCatcher Universal
is configured and also running.
