Why do I get a Mailshell frame when I click the links in my messages? Are all of these sites hosted by Mailshell?

If you have the free trial service, after your 30-day trial period ends, Mailshell will redirect all the links in messages you receive in order to add a frame to the top of the resulting page. The presence of this frame does not imply any connection between Mailshell and the websites you visit; it simply provides a quick way back to Mailshell so you can manage your account, create new disposable addresses, compose messages, or take advantage of Mailshell's other features.

If you prefer not to have this frame, you can turn off the Frame Links in Email setting in Display Options.

Why does Mailshell modify the links in messages I receive?

If you have the free trial service, after your 30-day trial period ends, you may notice that the links in emails you receive are modified to begin with "rd.mailshell.com." By redirecting links to outside websites through Mailshell, we can include a frame at the top of the resulting page which provides a quick way back to Mailshell so you can manage your account, create new disposable addresses, compose messages, or take advantage of Mailshell's other features. The presence of this frame does not imply any connection between Mailshell and the websites you visit through redirected links.

Why does Mailshell modify the email addresses in messages I receive?

If you have turned on the Email Address Redirection feature, Mailshell modifies the email addresses in the headers of messages that have been forwarded through your Mailshell addresses to an outside address. These changes make it possible for you to reply to a message from any email account and have the reply still come from the appropriate Mailshell address, keeping your private email address safe. (For example, if you receive an email at your Yahoo! account that has been forwarded through the disposable email address family@your-name.com, when you reply, the recipient will see the message as coming from family@your-name.com rather than the Yahoo! address.)

The special formatting Mailshell uses on these addresses is also useful if you want to compose messages from another email account using one of your Mailshell addresses. To learn more about the formatting and how to use it, click here.

Please note: Even with Redirection turned on, your email address will not be protected if you include it in the body of your email. The best policy is not to include your real email address within the message body and be aware of whether you have any automatic signatures or features that include the address.

What are the footers at the bottom of emails I receive through Mailshell?

If you have the free trial service, after your 30-day trial period ends, Mailshell will append a short footer to the bottom of messages you receive. This footer includes a link to change the delivery setting for the disposable address used for that message, a link to upgrade your account to the Premium Service, and a link to join Mailshell's Rewards Program, which lets you earn money when someone you refer signs up for the service. This footer is especially useful when you want a quick link back to the Mailshell site to manage your account or addresses.

If you do not want the footers appended to your messages, you can upgrade to the Premium Service.

What does "set as my Mailshell start page" mean?

If you want to go to this page immediately after signing in, click this link at the bottom of the page. You can choose to start in the Spam Filtering Overview or Disposable Email Addresses sections of Spam Filtering or in the Inbox or Folders sections of Check Mail. (Note that you can also choose your start page by using the menu in Display Options.)
