I am behind a firewall and can't use the Mailshell Network. What can I do?

In order for Outlook to communicate with Mailshell servers, your firewall port #80 (HTTP) must be open and Ping requests must be accepted. Note: Mailshell Anti-Spam Outlook releases up to version 2.6 use port #443 (HTTPS) by default.

Contact your network administrator to resolve this problem. If you are running firewall software on your computer such as ZoneAlarm or Black Ice Defender, make sure that the Outlook application is allowed access to the Internet.

Mailshell Anti-Spam Outlook supports the option to disable the Ping checks but Mailshell Anti-Spam Outlook may freeze for around 30 seconds if Outlook is unable to communicate with the Mailshell servers at any time.

What happens if I can not connect to the Mailshell Anti-Spam servers?

You will not be able to access the Mailshell Network to compare your email to our known database of spam and. However, you will still be able to filter your email based on spam rules that come with your Mailshell Anti-Spam Outlook installation.
