Enable Outlook Express
Plugin
For Outlook Express users, Mailshell Anti-Spam
has an Outlook Express plugin which allows you to easily
filter spam messages and change your settings via buttons
on your Outlook Express toolbar.
With the plugin, you can:
- Add Approved Senders by clicking on the Approve Message
button
on your Outlook Express toolbar.
- Add Blocked Senders by clicking on the Block Message
button
on your Outlook Express toolbar.
- Change your Mailshell Anti-Spam settings by clicking
on the Mailshell Anti-Spam icon
on the Outlook Express toolbar.
Also note that if the Outlook Express plugin
is enabled, no configuration is required to download messages
with the pop proxy. This feature is enabled by default.
To disable the Outlook Express Plugin, double-click
on the Mailshell Anti-Spam icon
in the system tray. On the Mailshell Anti-Spam popup, uncheck
"Enable Outlook Express Plugin" in the Outlook
Express Options section, then click the Apply button.
Outlook Express Spam
Threshold
For Outlook Express users, Mailshell Anti-Spam
can filter possible spam by moving the messages to the SpamCatcher
folder. The Outlook Express Spam Threshold option allows
you to adjust and customize the filtering threshold you
want to use. This feature is enabled by default and set
to "Lenient".
To disable Outlook Express Spam Threshold,
double-click on the Mailshell Anti-Spam icon
in the system tray. On the Mailshell Anti-Spam popup, uncheck
"Enable Outlook Express Spam Threshold" in the
Outlook Express Options section, then click the Apply button.
Block/Approve
Confirmations
Enabling this feature will cause Mailshell
Anti-Spam to display a confirmation window whenever you
block or approve an address or a domain. This feature is
enabled by default.
To disable confirmations, click on the Mailshell
Anti-Spam icon
on the Outlook Express toolbar. On the Mailshell Anti-Spam
popup, uncheck "Enable Block/Approve Confirmations" under
the Outlook Express Options section, then click the Apply
button.
Scanning of Outlook Express
Folders
If you use Outlook Express, you can improve
the accuracy of your spam filtering by allowing Mailshell
Anti-Spam to periodically scan your Inbox and Sent Items
folder for legit email addresses. "From" addresses in messages
older than one day in the Inbox and "To" addresses of messages
in the Sent Items folder will be given preference when computing
spam scores.
You also have the option of setting the scan
frequency of the Outlook Express folders. If you wish to
scan your Outlook Express folders, click on the "Scan Now"
button. Scanning of Outlook Express Folders is enabled by
default and is set to a scan frequency of every "day".
To disable scanning, click on the Mailshell
Anti-Spam icon
on the Outlook Express toolbar. On the Mailshell Anti-Spam
popup, uncheck "Enable Scanning of Outlook Express Folders"
under the Outlook Express Options section, then click the
Apply button.
